A blog with a difference

This is a blog with a difference, it won’t be concentrating on cycling but on an issue that has been ongoing for a while. I have a reader or two who unfortunately persist on trying to undermine me on social media and basically behave like children with their underhanded comments. So whilst these individuals have…

RideLondon 2017

Four years after completing the inaugural RideLondon I was back in the capital for another go. The first RL was a perfect day of sunshine and very little wind. This year wasn’t the same, with lots of rain the day before and overnight, only stopping as I left the Travelodge at 04:45 in the morning….

May – Speeding Up, Times Tumbling

Another month rolls by, where do they go! I can’t believe we are in June already. Our little boy James continues to grow and develop and charm us all. It is fascinating watching him develop and now he is just coming up to 22 months, he is in a very adorable stage with talking etc……..

April 2017 – Dorset to Belgium

April, April, April, what a month that has been. The first main ride of April was meant to be the Dorset Coastlet Audax 100km. However, Ian put a very persuasive argument to me regarding the Dorset Coast 200km ride, it went something like this, “Do you fancy doing the 200km ride?”. I put up a…

March 2017 – Pushing out the miles

Finally, spring is here! Not that it’s much to get excited about at the moment, but at least it’s all moving in the right direction. Talking of moving in the right direction, I finally got to the first sportive of the year, the Wiltshire Wildcat. I think this will become my season starter. It’s a…

February 2017 – A mixed bag

February, what a mixed bag in so many ways. We went from forecasts of holy crap I can’t feel my face to the belief that Spring really is on its way. So I say to Spring, stand up to winter and give it a hefty kick in the snowballs! This constant teasing of warmer promises…

January 2017

January is the worst month, you’re fat and broke from the holidays, paler than ever, and you can’t feel your face when you walk outside! Unless you are one of the privileged few to have escaped to sunshine and warmth, you’ve probably been freezing this month. We still have weeks to go of much the…

2016

2016 – What a year! So much happened, good and bad. The targets for 2016 were put in place at the end of 2015 and after a great year on the bike I am very happy to have achieved them all. The years go by so quickly, but it does seem a long time ago…

Silverstone TTT Challenge

That’s history. I say history because it happened in the past. – Murray Walker Why start this blog with a Murray Walker quote? Well that would be because I got to fulfil a dream on 2nd October 2016, which was to ride my bike around the Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit. What made it even better…

Rise Above – Mark Cavendish Sportive

The third and final sportive of my fundraisers! It finished how it started, not feeling too great on the sportive. Ever since coming back from L’Etape Du Tour I haven’t really felt that fit on the bike, the training for that ride had peaked perfectly. Trying to peak again just over a month after, with…
